Onita Darcus Walker

August 12, 1918 — June 7, 2004

Asheville - Onita Darcus Walker, 85, of 160 Brickyard Road, went to be with Jesus Monday June 7, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired from Asheville, Mfg. Co. and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Jay and Ada Charlottie Burgess Beam and the wife of the late Robert Lee Walker who died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Ricky Dale Collins. Surviving are her daughters, Lottie May Franklin of Asheville, Freeda Parker of West Asheville, Madeline Carol Bonham of Leicester, Trudy Yvonne Collins of Weaverville and Sheila Higgins of Charlotte; son, Arthur Lee Walker of Asheville; sister, Althea Askew of Skyland; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Elmer Edwards officiating.
