Octavia Major

Asheville . Octavia Major of 602-B Walton Street died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a 10th grade student at Asheville High School and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Charlene Beatrice Major and older sister to the late Shanika Niyiel Major. Surviving are her father, Roy Brown of Asheville; maternal grandmother, Florence Yvonne Mosley Ray of Asheville and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Joint funeral services for Octavia, her mother and sister will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Tad Marshall and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. The family request that memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Road, Asheville, N.C. 28806.
