Norman E. Simmons, Jr.

February 27, 1961 — April 21, 2024

Alexander – Norman Edward Simmons, Jr, 63, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Mission Hospital.


A native of Wilmington, NC, he had resided in the Asheville area since 2003, where he was employed for the past 14 years and currently serving as Supervisor for the Buncombe County School Maintenance Department.


Mr. Simmons was a son of Beatrice Baines Simmons of Delco, NC, and the late Norman Edward Simmons, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Simmons.


Surviving are his loving wife, Shelia Ann Woods Simmons; mother, Beatrice Simmons; children: Andrew Collin Simmons and wife Mandie, Kimberly Ann Williams and husband Jeremy, and Tyler Simmons; grandchildren: Timothy, Shelby, and River; great-granddaughter, Stella; brother, Don Simmons; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.


A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Garry Rogers officiating.


The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 till 11 AM at the funeral home.


Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to serve the Simmons family.
