Norma Jean Travis Gowan

Arden – Norma Jean Travis Gowan, 82, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James Wallace Travis and Ettie Lucille Meek Travis, and wife of the late Ernest “Ernie” Ruble Gowan who passed away on March 2, 2022. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jo Travis Brown.

Mrs. Gowan never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family at the lake. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca G. Doty and husband Tony; and grandson, Joshua D. Pressley.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 till 11 AM at the funeral home.
