Nora Howell

ASHEVILLE - Nora Belle Shipman Howell, 85, passed away Sunday April 11, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center after a brief illness. A resident of Buncombe County for most of her life, she retired from CII with over 20 years of service. She was a daughter of the late Elisha and Mary Shipman and the wife of the late Claude Howell, Sr. to whom she had been married for 65 years. Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Howell Huntsinger and husband Neil of Asheville; sons, Ron Howell of Fletcher and Claude Ray Howell, Jr. and wife Sandra Buckner Howell of Mills River; sisters, Virginia Smith, Joyce McMinn and Mary Jo Shipman; brothers, George and Lloyd Shipman; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Stacey Harris officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
