Nellie Rowe Penley

West Asheville – Nellie Rowe Penley, 86, of 20 Olney Road, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 6, 2020. Mrs. Penley was a native of Madison County and had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late John and Elda Lee Anderson Rowe and was also preceded in death by her sons, Sammy Dodd and Harris Dean Dodd and daughter, LaDonna Kay Elkins. Mrs. Penley retired from Charles D. Owen Mfg. Company and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are her husband, Howard Penley with whom they married October 16, 1965; daughters, Delana Worley and husband, Ronnie of Mars Hill and Angela Smith of Erwin, TN; sisters, Mary Ruth Clark of Weaverville and Edna Bishop of Brevard; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11AM Tuesday, March 10, 2020 Jones Family Cemetery, Smith Graveyard Road (off Eliada Home Rd.) with Rev. Jerry Hensley, Rev. Michael Cathey and Rev. Billy Dodd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
