Nell Frances Chambers

Nell Frances Harrison Chambers, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she worked most of her life as a home health nurse and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and volunteer for the Counsel on Aging. Mrs. Chambers was the daughter of the late William Leighton Harrison and Ada Bailey Harrison. She was also preceded in death by her husband John W. Chambers who passed away on November 13, 1968. She is survived by her daughters: Susan Evelina Chambers, Marie Anne Chambers Sutherland of Manteo, NC, and Elaine Chambers Brunner of Nags Head, NC; special niece, Sherrie Harrison Oechsler of Lakemont, GA; grandchildren: John Brunner II, Tanya Brunner Landau, Kevin Jay Sutherland, and Travis Sutherland; 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Jenny Gregory of Brunswick, GA, and Mary Faye Dunn of Vancouver, WA; many nieces and nephews; and by a special friend, James Clyde Lafevers, who is the oldest living WWII Veteran of the NC Veterans Home in Asheville. The Chambers family will conduct graveside services at 1PM, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Chambers home following the service.
