Nanna Bateman Morrow

Fairview - Nanna Bateman Morrow, 91, died Sunday December 8, 2002 at St. Josephs Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Macon County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1940 and was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Alex and Mallie Waters Bateman and was also preceded in death by her brothers; Oscar, Jack, George, Gene and Claude Bateman and sister, Lallie Bateman Raby. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, George B. Morrow, Sr. of the home; son, George B. Morrow, Jr. of Fairview; sisters, Lucy Vanhook and Milan Wilkie both of Franklin; brothers, Garland Bateman of Franklin and Thea Bateman of Nantahalla; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Chester Owenby, Bobby Smith and Bob Ponder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son. Mrs. Morrow will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to services.
