Candler - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Carolyn Waites on December 27, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on September 17, 1939, in Asheville, NC, to Van and Christine Burnette and later adopted by Roy Inglette. Carolyn married her first husband, James William Reaves in 1953, and together had their children Teresa Reaves, Donna Wilson, and James Reaves Jr. (Jim). In 1994 she married Harold Waites, with whom she spent 28 years until he passed away in 2022. 

 Carolyn was known to everyone as a strong-willed and generous woman, committing herself to making others smile. Not only was she present for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but she was dedicated to charities such as ABCCM. Her loved ones find comfort in the memories they shared with her and are able to reminisce on them the way she would have wanted—through photos.

 Proceeded in joining the Lord: first husband James William Reaves; sister JoAnn Eidson; and second husband Harold Waites. 

 Survived by children: Teresa Reaves, Donna Wilson, and James Reaves Jr. (Jim); daughter-in-law Shari Reaves; grandchildren Josh Robinson, Alisa Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Brooke and Nicholas Jud, and Lauren Reaves; great-grandchildren Ryan Stephens and Carson Stephens; sister and brother in-law Linda and John Councilman; Special niece JoLynn LaCoursiere (Hal) and family; cousin Dianna DeBord Shoff and family.

 A memorial service will be held at Anders Rice Funeral Home on December 30, 2024, at 1pm with visitation to follow. The family is planning a celebration of life in the Spring of 2025, dates to be announced and communicated in the months to come.

 We reflect on Carolyn’s life with fondness and laughter, grateful to have known her and been loved by her. Her memory lives within the lives of her family, friends, and those whom she touched.
