Morris Weldon Reed

Fairview - Morris Weldon Reed, 73, of 19 Reeds Creek Rd. died Sunday, October 6, 2002 at the VA Medical Center, Asheville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a retired electrician with 40 years of service with Hayes and Lunsford and was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Faith Chapel Baptist Church in Fairview. Mr. Reed was the son of Lucy Stroupe Reed of Asheville and the late Emmett Reed. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Pauline Connor Reed of the home; son, Benny Reed and wife Diane of Fairview; daughter, Doris Smith and husband Steve of Mooresville; 3 beloved grandchildren, Christen Smith, Kelli Smith, and Benjamin Reed; sisters, Doris Rice and Betty Lanning both of Asheville; brother, Lloyd Reed of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Faith Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Gibson and Don Birchfield officiating. Burial will be in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Erwin High School Army JROTC. Pallbearers will be Ambrose, Carl, Nathan, J.B., Charles, and Odel Davis. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
