Molly Thomas Pounders

Woodfin - Molly Hairsy Thomas Pounders, 88, of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek, formerly of 59 Martel Village died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at Mission St. Josephs Health System. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1946. She was a member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Pounders was the daughter of the late Sarah Ann Thomas and was the wife of the late Harley Talmadge Pounders who died in 1970. Surviving are her daughters, Ruth Marie Armstrong and husband Phillip of Belleville, MI and Ann Sherrill Bullman and husband Fred of Asheville; sons, Maurice Maynard and wife Tella of Stanley, NC and Danny Lee Pounders and wife Brenda of Shelby, NC; half sister, Edna Hensley of Marshall, NC; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Elk Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
