Minnie Kent Woody

Leicester Minnie Kent Woody, 72, of Leicester, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a wonderful grandmother who loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Woody was the daughter of the late Cecil Alonzo and Eva Edmonds Kent, and the wife of the late James Allen Woody. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Holcombe; and brothers: Cecil Alonzo Kent, Jr. and Calvin Kent. Surviving are her children: Wayron Keith Thomas, Joel Lee Thomas, Terry Jean Meadows, Mitchell Kevin Woody and Belinda Woody Evans; 12 grandchildren, including her primary caregiver, Lindsey Evans; 1 great-grandson; sisters: Naomi Hensley and Estella West; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kent; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Kent officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
