Millie Elaine Jernigan Stewart

Millie Elaine Jernigan Stewart, 76, went home to be with her mother and father, Meme and Papa, on Friday, October 18, 2024, from her favorite place, Asheville.

Millie was born and raised in Ahoskie, NC, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Garland Jernigan and Mildred Nettie Burkett Jernigan. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Randolph Jernigan and Garland Wayne Jernigan.

Millie lived most of her life in Eastern NC, but also lived in Alaska, which she loved, but settled in her beloved mountains of North Carolina.

Millie is survived by her three beloved daughters: Melissa Stewart, Crissy Stewart (Michelle Capell), and James Stewart-Payne; and her 9 beautiful grandchildren: Marina, Jordan, Morrison, Marley, Harper, Garland, Luther, Tyler, and August.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor her legacy and the gifts she bestowed on all the people whom she loved.
