Asheville Mildred Mickey Constance Rhodes Hughey McCracken, 96, formerly of 6 Brown Avenue, Woodfin, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Aston Park Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired as Secretary at Maryland Casualty Insurance Agency with over 25 years of service and was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Class. Mrs. McCracken was the daughter of the late William H. Rhodes and Josie Gertrude Snyder Rhodes. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Lester Runion Hughey who died December 30, 1960 and 2nd husband, James Grant McCracken who died December 5, 1981; son, Joe Hughey who died October 1, 2013; step son, James W. McCracken and step daughter, Margaret McCracken Tiller. Surviving are her son, Douglas Hughey and wife Teresa of Asheville; grandchildren, Rev. Scott Hughey of Asheville, Stacey Cannon of Gastonia and Lauren Hughey of Asheville; 4 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Hughey and Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Aston Park Health Care Center for the love and care shown to our mother and family during her years there.
