Weaverville Michael David Silver, 58, of 16 Salem Acres passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was Owner & Operator of Craggy Motors, was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville and former member of Newbridge Baptist Church, a 1968 graduate of Erwin High School, attended Montreat-Anderson College and was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his father, Offie Howard Junior Silver, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Offie Howard and Teakie Capps Silver; maternal grandparents, Roadman and Gladys Arrowood and son, Gregory David Silver. Surviving are his wife, Karen Elaine Rice Silver, whom he married July 1st, 1972, of the home; son, Andrew Michael Andy Silver of Mooresville; daughter, Katie Marie Silver Hensley & husband, Michael of Candler; mother, Earline Arrowood Silver Ingle & husband, Bill of Asheville; mother-in-law, Lois Sawyer Rice of Asheville; brothers, Ronnie Silver & wife, Gracie and Terry Silver all of Asheville; brothers-in-law, Bryan Rice & wife, Margo of Asheville and Blix Rice and wife, April of Easley, SC; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville with Rev. Skip Gillikin and Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesdsay at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Above all Mike loved the Lord and his family. He shared his belief in the way he lived and was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a man who was loved by all.
