Michael Thomas "Mike" Duane

Asheville- Michael Thomas Peter Duane, 61, of 5 Clairmont Avenue died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at his residence. A native of Staten Island, NY. He had resided in Asheville since 1979 and was employed with Anders-Rice Funeral Home since 1988 as a Funeral Service licensee. He served in the 42nd Administrative Co. in the New York National Guard, was a member of Merrimon Ave. Baptist Church where he was a former assistant Sunday School teacher and member of the church choir, member of the Kiwanis Club of Asheville, the Gideons International, N.C. Funeral Directors Association, Christian Funeral Directors Association and was formerly an assistant Scout Master (Troop #8). Mr. Duane was the son of the late Thomas A. and Agnes Murial Moran Duane. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Roberta Lynn Brewer Duane of the home; son, Thomas Edward Tommy Duane of Fletcher; daughter, Donna Michelle Link of Asheville; grandchildren, Corey, Lauren, Allie and Rachel Link all of Asheville; sister, Mary Agnes White of Orlando, FL; aunt, Annette Dannhardt of Connecticut; uncle and aunt, Peter and Helen Moran of Long Island, NY; uncle, Paul Moran of Long Island, NY and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Merrimon Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller and Rev. Dr. James Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. His fellow co-workers of Anders-Rice Funeral Home will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
