Michael M. Harwood

Weaverville - Michael M. Harwood, 47, of 28 Camel Field Dr. died Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Born in Madison County, he had lived in Buncombe County for all of his life. He was employed by he US Department of the Interior, Blue Ridge Parkway. Mr. Harwood was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, a member of the Reems Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., and served on the Southwest Area Incident Team Firefighters. He was an avid deer hunter. He was the son of Ruth Ballew Harwood of Barnardsville and the late Hesley Harwood. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Harwood. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Nancy Dockery Harwood of the home; son, Kevin Harwood of Leicester; grandson, Austin Harwood of Weaverville; brothers, Randy Harwood, Gerald Harwood, and Hesley Harwood, Jr. all of Barnardsville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Woodland Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Harwood Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
