Michael Lane "Mike" Ross

Leicester - Michael Lane Mike Ross, 52, died unexpectedly at his home on March 18, 2008. Mike was born January 18, 1956 in Haywood County to Gerald and Marie Ross. He grew up in Buncombe County and attended Erwin High School. He married his one true love, Yvonne (Dockery) Ross on March 2, 1973. Mike spent his life creating beautiful things. He was a builder and took pride in his work. Mike loved life, he loved his family and friends and loved his church. He attended Erwin Hills Baptist Church where he served as a teacher, deacon, and choir director. Mike was passionate about his faith and his love for Christ. He took many mission trips to New Guinea and Peru building churches and schools. He used his many gifts to serve God and others. Mike loved outdoor sports and spent many hours fishing, hiking and camping with his family and friends. He always had a big smile, hug, and a kind word for everyone. In addition to his parents, Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife Yvonne; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Keith Kolomechuk; grandson, Elijah Kolomechuk; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Vicki Ross; sisters and brothers-in-law: Diane and Tom Rumbough, Denise and Ronnie Hartwell , and Debra and Carlos Collazo; lifelong friend, Ronnie Dula;beloved son-in-law to Bill and Virginia Dockery; many nieces, nephews, and extended family who love him very much. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Thursday at the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jonathan Stewart and Rev. James Whitted officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christian Soldiers Construction Ministries, C/O Erwin Hills Baptist Church, PO Box 17761, Asheville, NC 28806.
