Michael Kenneth "Mike" Coward

Candler - Michael Kenneth Mike Coward, 52, of 54 Rangeview Acres, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Mike was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, serving in Granada and as an MP in Germany. Mike was the son of Taft Shuford Coward, Jr. and Louise Browning Coward of Candler. He was preceded in death by a brother, Taft Shuford Coward, III. in addition to his parents, surviving are his 11 year-old daughter, Shannah Desiree Coward, and her mother, Robin P. Coward, of Hendersonville; brother, Tracy Kevin Coward and wife Shirley of Clyde; and aunt and uncle, Midgie and JC Rollins of Black Mountain. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his daughter, Shannah Desiree Cowards trust fund, C/O any local Carolina First Bank.
