Michael James Austin

Michael James Austin, 53, went to home be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5 2023, at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Barbara Ann Mashburn Thomas and the late James Dennis Austin.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Joanna Etchinson Austin; mother, Barbara Ann Mashburn Thomas; special cousin, Scott Mashburn; special friend, Reggie Ray; and many extended family and friends.

A service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 6 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Words of Life Tabernacle, 815 Glenn Bridge Rd, Arden, NC 28704, with Pastor Nathan Parker officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
