Michael Gene "Mikie" Mitchell

Fairview - Michael Mikie Mitchell, 47, of 928 Old Fort Road Lot #1, died Thursday December 26, 2002 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital following injuries sustained while at work. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a roofer for A-Brickey Company, Enka. He was a son of Carroll Lewis Mitchell of Fairview and the late Mary Elizabeth Haney Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his brothers in law, Roger A. Banks and Johnny J. Brown. Surviving in addition to his father are his companion, Lisa Garrison of Asheville; son, Chad Mitchell of Greer, SC: sisters, Elizabeth Banks and Sherry Walters both of Fairview and Sheila Shockey and husband, Joseph G. of Etowah; brothers, Terry Haney and wife, Sharon of Swannanoa and Gary Lewis Mitchell and wife, Hope of Candler; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Joel Pressley, Larry Sprinkle and Terry Banks officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence.
