Leicester David Max Parham, 78, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the VA Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Johnny and Pearl Gillespie Parham. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Parham Kinnebrew and Wanda Parham Bays. He had served during Peacetime in Korea in the US Army. He retired in 1998 from Sears following 36 years of service. He was a member of Newfound Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and was currently attending Trinity Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, beekeeping and gardening and he treasured spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Wilson Parham of the home; daughters, Lisa Parham Woody (Bryan) of Charlotte and Kelley Parham Brunelle (Steve) of Fletcher; granddaughter, Megan Woody; step granddaughter, Taren Adams; step grandson, Jordon Brunelle and step great-grandson, Ryker Adams; brothers, Harold Parham (Ginny Lee) of Maryland and Wilburn Parham (Mary Ann) of Asheville; sister, Alice Parham Sprinkle (Malcolm) of Weaverville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Newfound Baptist Church with Revs Jeff Maynard, Charles Phillips and Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 AM Saturday at the church.
