Max M. Hagood

Candler- Max Martin Hagood, 89, of 727 Monte Vista Road, died Saturday, June 29, 2002 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a long illness. A native of Danville, Virginia. He had resided in Buncombe County for the past 45 years and was a son of the late John T. Hagood and Emma Clay Hagood. Mr. Hagood was the former owner & operator of the Picadilly Restaurant in Asheville, Clover Grill in Waynesville and the Bus Terminal Grill Cafe on Coxe Avenue. He was a member of the Chapel Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Rose Forster Hagood of the home; step son, Harold A. Runion of Asheville; brother, Col. Lacy Hagood of Clifton, Va. and 4 grand daughters. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Harris and Rev. Bruce Curd officiating.
