Mary Sue Motes Phillips

Asheville – Mary Sue Motes Phillips, 81, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at her residence. Her daughter, Lisa, was with her at the time of her passing.

A native of Madison, GA Mary was a daughter of the late Raymond Motes and Maebell Pendergrass Motes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Francine Glenn; and brothers: Ralph Motes, Oscar Motes, and Charles Motes.

Mrs. Phillips loved the Lord and spent many hours reading her bible. When she lost her sight, she would listen to the bible on CDs. She always maintained a positive spirit, even when life was tough. She was a good mother and could always be counted on for positive inspiration.

She is survived by her daughters: Lisa Phillips and Amanda Phillips Works; grandchildren: Heaven Collins, Michael Collins, Sarah Kinser Cihonski, and James Christopher Davis; a great-granddaughter; sisters: Wilda, Irene, and Edna; brothers: Larry, Joe, and Willie; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held in late April or early May, date to be announced soon.

The Phillips family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Fourseasons Hospice for their exceptional care and support given to Mrs. Phillips and her family.
