Mary S. Miller

Asheville – Mary Ann Stamey Miller, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Memorial Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward Stamey, Sr. and Ermalee Ashe Hakinson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Irma Jean Stamey, and brother, Thomas Stamey. Mary worked for Asheville Cleaners for 20 years. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in the garden, and had a special love for flowers. Surviving are her children: Marvin Miller and wife Tonya, and Rebecca Miller and fiancée Bobby; grandchildren: Destini Smith, Sydni Smith, Colby Smith, and Kelsi Miller; partner of 25 years, Andrew Gwaltney; sister, Becky McCrary and husband Thomas; brother, Charles Stamey and wife Christy; and nieces and nephews: Erica Stamey, Tommy Stamey, and Tamera Davis and husband Bobby. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held from 6 till 8 PM on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
