Mary Martin

Asheville Mary Julia Holesapple Martin, 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. A native of Decatur, AL, she had resided in Asheville for most of her life. She was the Office Manager for Stuart Nye Silver Shop for over 50 years, was a 1952 graduate of Warren Wilson College, was a member of the Rhododendron Civitan Club and was a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Cole Foster Holesapple and Nettie Pearl McGhee Holesapple and wife of William Freemont Bill Martin who died August 14, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Charles Holesapple and James Clifford Holesapple and sister Martha Callendar. Surviving are her daughter, Jackie Quinn and husband Stephen of Asheville; grandchildren, Treva Cross and husband Lacy and Jason Ratcliff all of Asheville; great grandchildren, Kaley, Justin, Mitchell and Carter and dear to her heart, Lorey Peek Taylor and all her friends at the Western North Carolina Mountain State Fair with whom she considered family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Matt Buchanan officiating. Burial will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
