Mary Lee Joyce

Leicester Mary Lee Conner Joyce, 85, of 15 Rathbone Drive passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a member of Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher of the Seniors Class and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Joyce was a daughter of the late Thomas Wayne Conner and Nora Savannah Lowe Conner Nelson and wife of Dan Gilbert Joyce who died February 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Ann King and brothers, Earl Conner and Gardner Conner. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Rathbone & husband Warren of Leicester, Susan Raymer & husband Tom and Tommie Carter & husband Billy all of Asheville; son, Gilbert David Joyce and wife Nancy of Alexander; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Amilee Rogers & husband Edward of Manchester, NH. Funeral servcies will be held 2:30 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Fish and Rev. Larry Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
