Mary Lee Foster

Alexander Mary Lee McDevitte Foster, 74, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County for the past 57 years. She was employed for several years at American Enka Corp, was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eastern Star and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Foster was a daughter of the late William Bill Parris and Pearl McDevitte Gosnell and step daughter of the late Clyde Gosnell. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Elaine Foster and son, Walter Foster; several siblings, including her brothers, Andrew McDevitte and R.B. McDevitte. Surviving are her husband whom she married April 21, 1960, Ernest Foster of the home; two sisters; one brother and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at the funeral home.
