Mary Jo Moore

Asheville - Mary Jo Moffitt Moore, 65, of 42 McKinney Road passed away Friday August 26, 2005 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mrs. Moore was a longtime waitress at Ryans Steakhouse on Patton Avenue where she made numerous friends and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Frank Moffitt and Mary Geneva Willis Rathburn and the wife of John W. Jack Moore who passed away in March of 2005. Surviving are her beloved poodle, Steve; sister, Frances Moffitt Whitfield formerly of Asheville, now residing in Chapel Hill and husband W. Douglas; brothers, Bobby Moffitt and wife Dorcas of Leicester and Billy Rathburn and wife Nancy of Asheville; nephews, Tim Moffitt and wife Pamela of Asheville, Eric Rathburn and wife Barbara of Asheville, Joseph Rathburn and wife Lisa of Candler and Michael Rathburn and wife Lisa of Asheville; nieces, Diane Justus and husband Tim of Edneyville and Marjorie Bower and husband James of Louisville, KY.; several cousins including her very special cousin, Jamie Wolfe Wilson and husband Houston of Asheville. Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Corbin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the church. Private graveside services will be held Monday.
