Mary Frances Penland

West Asheville Mary Frances Doodle Davis Penland, 77, of 261 Bear Creek Road died Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late John Burgin Davis and Anna Lorene Hendrix Davis. Mrs. Penland retired in 1990 from Square D with over 25 years of service. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and a member of the former Good Friendship Club. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Thomas R. Penland of the home; daughters, Brenda Candler and husband, Gerald M. of Myrtle Beach, SC and Deb Bowman and husband, Robin of Leicester; son, Gary Penland and wife, Brenda of Candler; grandchildren, Carey Ballard, Leslie Candler, Cassy Stout, Senna Dill, Dawn Reynolds, Brandon Penland and Austin Penland; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Jack Davis and wife, Anna Dee of Maggie Valley and special friends, Norman and Mary Kuykendall. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James Johnson and Johnny Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Dill, Andy Reynolds, Mike Ballard, Chris Stout, Austin Penland and Ronnie Capps.
