Mary Eddy Smith

Asheville - Mary Eddy Gibson Smith, 81, of 14 Club Street, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 in Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late George and Daisy Ingle Gibson and the wife of Joseph Eric Smith, who passed away in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris Medford, and her brother, Bill Gibson. Surviving are her daughter, Daisy Keith of Asheville; her son, James Smith of Asheville; her step-daughter, Francis Miller of Asheville; her step-son, Fred Smith of Asheville; three grandchildren: Stacey Keith, Misty Keith, and Eric Keith; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Dix Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
