Mary Christine Messer

Candler - Mary Christine Plemmons Messer, 75, of 38 Sunray Cove Road, passed away Monday March 29, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of McDowell County she lived most of her life in Buncombe County and had retired from the Buncombe County School Board as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Merlin James and Ruby Justice Plemmons and the wife of the late James Eugene Messer. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bobby, Ben and Bill Plemmons. Surviving are her sons, Gene Messer and wife Regina of Asheville and Brian Messer of Candler; sisters, Helen Jones of Graham County and Anne Kirkland of Sharpsburg, GA; brother, Michael Plemmons of Candler; grandchildren, Shawn Messer of Canton, Kellan Patridge of the United Kingdom, Jennifer Baker of Whitmire, SC and Ashley Parker of Asheville and three great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Oliver officiating. The family will receive friends 10 to 11:00 A.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
