Mary Barnett Monteith

Pisgah Forest Mary Barnett Monteith, 86, of 365 Cemetery Rd. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 05, 2005 at Ivy Hill Health and Retirement Center. A native and resident of Transylvania County for most of her life, she was a 1936 graduate of Brevard High School. She was a former member of the Brevard V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Class and a member of the XYZ Club. Mrs. Monteith was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Myrtle Lee Carland Barnett and was the wife of the late John Wesley Monteith, Jr. who died in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary June Monteith, brothers, Garland Barnett and Mayo Barnett, and sister, Mildred B. Corn. Surviving are her children, John T. Monteith and wife Barbara of Pisgah Forest, Linda M. Moody and husband Charles of Franklin, and Gary M. Monteith and wife Barbara Ann of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, John H. Monteith and wife Sharon of Pisgah Forest, Debbie M. Mathews and husband Doug of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Becky M. Fulp and husband Jamie of Pisgah Forest, Christy Monteith of Pisgah Forest, and Chris Moody and wife Margie of Harrisburg; great grandchildren, Wesley, Justin, Kaylee, Jacob, and baby Mathews; a number of nieces and nephews. Private family graveside services will be held at Davidson River Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Temple Baptist Church with the Revs. Alvin Morgan and Charles Bratu officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
