Mary Arwood

Asheville Mary Frances Arwood, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Madison Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Yancey County, Mrs. Arwood had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Arwood was the daughter of the late W.C. and Delsie Taylor Wingfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years, Junior Lee Arwood, who passed away in 1994, and a very special aunt and uncle, who Mrs. Arwood looked upon as her second mom and dad, Bernie and Pearl Pittman. Surviving are her children: Brenda Wheeler (Ray), Larry Noah (Marie), Linda Robinson (Bobby), Barbara Walls (Jim), Diane Honeycutt (Donald), Teresa Rigsby (Bob), Orville Arwood (Angi), and Kaye Roberts (Stephan); sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and three great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:30 PM Friday at the church, and at other times at their respective residences. Flowers will be accepted and greatly appreciated.
