Marvin Perry Brown

October 16, 1945 — May 22, 2006

Woodfin Marvin Perry Brown, 60, of 185 Jonestown Road, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006 at his home following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a 1964 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, and a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Brown was the son of the late Rev. Sewall R. and Violet Johnson Brown. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Aileen Hart, and two brothers, Troy Lee Brown and Cecil Brown. Surviving are his brothers: Harold Brown of Orange, TX, Earl Brown of Mars Hill, Ray Brown of Rutledge, TN, Wayne Brown of Woodfin, and Jackie Brown of Woodfin; sister, Betty Redmond of Swannanoa; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Clyde A. Erwin High School ROTC. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
