Martha Rice Christopher

Martha Rice Wilson Christopher, widow of Richard Pless Christopher, Jr., passed away at home on February 17, 2016 and joined Richard in Heaven where they can be together again. Martha was a beloved and devoted wife, dedicated mother and a loving and caring friend. She always thought of others and could bring a shining light to even the darkest days. She loved spending time with her husband, family and friends, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 30 years, Richard Pless Christopher, Jr., who passed away on February 7, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Carol Rice and Ruby King Rice, both of Asheville. She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her son, Larry E. Wilson, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Monica Lynn Israel, both of Enka. A native of Asheville, Martha was born on December 30, 1954. Martha enjoyed her retirement, as well as boating, hiking, nature, trips to the lakes, the ocean, and spending time with her grandchildren and pets. She is survived by her son, Larry E. Wilson, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Monica Lynn Israel; loving pet, April Mae Christopher; grandchildren: Gabriella Mary Wilson, Cassidy Rose Miller, Katelin Wallace, and Kristen Wallace; sisters: Kay (Rick) Hornaday, Marilyn (Ed) Mercer, and Marie (Harold) Holcombe and brother, James Rice. She is also survived by her best friend, Jane Armstrong; mother-in-law, Genevieve Fletcher; and Richards siblings, all of Florida; also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the Asheville area. The receiving of family and friends will be held between 5:00 7:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
