Martha H. Wilson

Asheville Martha Nell Harris Wilson, 78, of 192 Porter Road, went to be with her Lord Sunday, October 16, 2005 at The Laurels of Greentree Ridge following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in the early 1990s from Gerber Baby Food Company following 28 years of service. She had previously been employed at Beacon Manufacturing Company for 15 years. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Mattie Merrill Harris. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Alvin Wilson, whom she married on July 30, 1943; her son, Bill Wilson; grandson, Mark Wilson and wife Christy; and twin great-grandsons, Elias and Ethan Wilson, all of Nashville, TN; her sister, Cleo Connor and husband Bob of Swannanoa; her brother, Hugh Harris and wife Clara of Candler; and her adopted granddaughter, Melody Lathan Rickard of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lester Crayton and Rev. H.L. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
