Marie Willis Norton

June 23, 1937 — October 8, 2004

Weaverville - Marie Willis Norton, 67, of 147 Upper Flat Creek Road died Friday, October 8, 2004 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County. Mrs. Norton had resided in Buncombe County most of her life, was a home maker and a member of Coles Cove Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Virgie Robinson Willis and the wife of Odes Norton who died January 26, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Louise and Violet Willis and her brother, Billy Willis. Surviving are her daughters, Sylvia Ann Anders and husband, Dave, Revia Marie Thomas and husband, Henry and Marianna Christine Burnette and husband, Troy all of Weaverville; son, Odes Norman Norton and wife, Rebecca of Weaverville; brothers, Burdete Willis of Asheville, James Willis of Morganton and Junior Willis of Leicester; sister in law, Annie Rogers of Asheville; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coles Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Burchette officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
