FAIRVIEW - EVELYN MARIE TOWE McCLURE, 69, DIED THURSDAY MARCH 1, 2001 AT ST. JOSEPHS HOSPITAL AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS. A NATIVE AND RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY FOR MOST OF HER LIFE, SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS AND HAD SERVED A MISSION IN THE ATLANTA TEMPLE. SHE WAS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE OLD BUNCOMBE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY AND DIRECTOR OF THE L.D.S. FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE LLOYD E. AND EVELYN MARIE WOODS TOWE. SURVIVING ARE HER HUSBAND, JOHN ERNEST McCLURE OF THE HOME; DAUGHTERS, ROSE PEART OF ASHEVILLE AND SHERRON HILL OF FAIRVIEW; SONS, LLOYD MOORE OF CROTON, N.Y., RODNEY HILL OF BLUFFDALE, UT., RICHARD HILL OF PROSPECT HILL AND MICHAEL HILL OF BARNARDSVILLE; SISTER, DIXIE WELDON OF GLEN BERNIE, MD.; BROTHERS, PATRICK WELDON OF S.C. AND MIKE WELDON OF FAIRVIEW AND 15 GRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 MONDAY AT THE L.D.S. CHURCH ON SWEETEN CREEK ROAD WITH EDWARD PEART OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN CANE CREEK CEMETERY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 3 TO 5:00 P.M. SUNDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, FAMILY HISTORY CENTER, P.O. BOX 1099, SKYLAND, N.C. 28776.
