Marie Sheppard

Alexander – Anna Marie Cook Sheppard, 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Aston Park Health Care Center.

A native of Greeneville, TN, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired in 1992 following 35 years of service from Western Southern Life Insurance Company where at the time of her retirement, she was Office Manager. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shriner’s, and VFW Post #891.

Mrs. Sheppard was the daughter of the late James Charles Cook and Donnie Thomas Cook and wife of Howard Hillard Sheppard who died October 24, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Zelma Bebber and Bobbie Styles; and several nieces and nephews.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Sheppard Warren of Alexander; grandchildren: Shannon White and husband Ronnie, Melanie Engel and husband Carlos, and Lesley Wilson and husband Gregg; great grandchildren; Robert White, Aaron White, Sydney White, Ellison Thompson, Alexander Warren, and Aidan Warren; and niece, Donna Sue Ingle.

Graveside services will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Elk Mountain Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 till 3:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
