Fairview Helen Marie Mimi Clark Whitaker, 77, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Floyd Jay Clark and Helen Anne Ray Clark and the wife of the late Joseph Theodore Whitaker. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Tate and husband, Paul of Fairview, and Diane Tate of Asheville; son-in-law, Joe Tate, of Asheville; grandchildren: Jessica, Jamie, Kyle and Kaylee Tate; brothers, Jack Clark and wife Wanda of Asheville and Bill Clark and wife, the late Christine Clark, of Fairview; several nieces and nephews; and her dogs: Miss Molly and Mickey, who were very special to her. Mimi led the family with love, strength, and humor. She was known by many as a faithful friend and prayer warrior. She was passionate about making crafts, baking, and sewing, and enjoyed sharing those creations with others. She leaves a legacy of loving through actions and finding joy in all things. She is now at peace, walking on the shores of Heaven. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview. The family will receive friends from 12:30 1:45 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
