Asheville Margie Louise Rumfelt Bishop, who died on December 15, 2011, was born in Rutherfordton Township in Rutherford County on December 19, 1924. She was one of 10 children (5 boys and 5 girls) to Albert J. Rumfelt and Nancy Suzanna Davis Rumfelt. Margie was the last surviving child. She was the wife of Arrie Paul Bishop, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1992. She was the mother to four surviving daughters, Wanda Muse & her husband Otis, Joyce Blankenship, Gail Bishop and Joan Revis, all of Asheville. She was Margie to 9, much loved, grandsons, Matthew Fisher, Stephen Fisher, Phillip Muse, Michael Revis, Ernest Revis, Rustin Winkler, Ezekiel Buchanan, Mark Blankenship and her beloved first born grandson, Paul Blankenship, who preceded her in death on May 13, 2011. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Margie was loved by all those that knew her. She was a deeply religious woman who was always helping those in need. She took great strength from her belief in God and would respond in prayer when her health kept her from physically going to someones aide. She had many family and friends to pass before her which left her quite lonely at times but she loved to sing and would break out in song on those days when she missed those she loved so much and you could see a light in her eyes when remembering them. Margie was also known for her sewing and would make clothes for anyone that she knew needed clothes and could not afford them. She often took food from her home to share with neighbors who had even less, many times Margie ask neighbors to eat with the family as she worried that their children did not have food and she was always willing to share our beans & taters. She led a hard life financially but always had a smile on her face because she felt so fortunate to have what she did have and was always willing to share. Margie never had much in material things but she had plenty of love, respect and admiration. Her good deeds were small and always done quietly but she did much for many and she was respected and loved for it. She had a true Christian Spirit and she will truly be missed. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Overton officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
