Margaret Rice "Babe" Parham

WEAVERVILLE - Margaret Rice Parham, 85, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2001 at Beverly Health Care following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, She was the daughter of the late John Ark and Priscilla Raines Rice and the wife of the late Alfred Lee Parham. She was also preceded in death by three sons; James, William and Carl Parham. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-laws; Mary and Jimmy Smith, Diane and Michael Honeycutt and Linda and Rev. Don Metcalf all of Weaverville and Barbara and Arthur Hendrix of Asheville; son Oscar Parham and wife, Shirley of Asheville; sisters, Edna Riddle of Cumberland, VA and Dolly Chambers of Asheville; 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Royce Metcalf and Don Metcalf officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Jeff and Jimmy Smith, Jason and Artie Hendrix, Richard Parham and Chris Honeycutt. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Rev. Don and Linda Metcalf, 100 Ivy Hill Rd, Weaverville.
