Margaret Lance Johnston

Asheville Margaret Estella Lance Johnston, 90, of 6 Ferry Road, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Lola Rogers. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from the Asheville Mfg Co where she was a seamstress for many years. Mrs. Johnston was a daughter of the late Charles Mack Lance and Bertha Case Lance and was the wife of Duffus Burton Poppy Johnston who died February 16, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Roland who died February 9, 2015; two sisters; her brother; son-in-law, Dale Rogers; and great-grandson Brandon Rogers. Surviving are her daughters, Lola Rogers of Asheville and Marilyn Pernell and husband Johnny of Louisburg; five grandchildren, Randy Rogers and wife Dorothy, Leanna Moody and husband Mike, Stacie Morgan, Brian Pernell and Brianne Louthen and husband RA; three step grandchildren, Shelia Almand, Mike Pernell and John Pernell; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
