Margaret Ann Allen

Margaret Ann Cannon Allen, 66, a lifelong resident of Asheville went to be with the Lord after a long battle with illness on April 25, 2021. She attended Asheville High. She spent her life waiting tables at some of the popular restaurants in Asheville. She worked most notably at Silver Dollar, Tastee Diner, but the bulk of her career was spent at Flamingos Restaurant on Biltmore Ave. It was more than a job for her, she loved her regular customers and they became like family as well. She worked very hard to build a life with her husband of 48 years, James Allen for their 4 children. Her favorite pastime, outside of spending time with her family, was Bingo. She would get so excited about the big game in Cherokee and how they paid out “thirtyyyy fivveeeee thousannnnnnddd dollarrrrrrssssss” She is preceded in death by her father, James Howard Cannon; her mother, Irene Eloise Yarborough Maggard; her brothers, Robert (Bobby) Cannon and Charles Ray. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Allen; her children, Tonya Sorto (Eblin), Miranda Allen, Robert Allen, and Melissa Allen; her grandchildren, Samantha Murchison, Erik Allen, Oblin Sorto, Sophia Sorto, Luke Allen, Zach Allen, Cody Barker, and Sara Barker; 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will always carry your memory in our hearts!! A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1st at 2pm at Anders Rice Funeral Home 1428 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806
