Madge Knighten Ritchie

Asheville - Madge Knighten Rogers Ritchie, 92, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late John Edward and Julia Henrietta Nelon Knighten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ritchie. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Rogers Quinones of Asheville; sons: Clarence Rogers (Judy), and James Rogers (Linda), all of Asheville, Robert Rogers (Mildred) of Lenoior City, TN, Thomas Rogers (Pem), and John Rogers (Barbara), all of Asheville; sister, Gladys N. Silver of Alabama; brother, Gordon Knighten of Asheville; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Sunday in Lewis Memorial Park, with the Rev. Randy Melton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 PM at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
