Lyla Netherton Blane

Woodfin Lyla Lee Netherton Blane, 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County, she retired from Spainhours Department Store and previously worked at Bon Marche. She was a 1942 graduate of West Buncombe High School and was a member of St. Lukes Methodist Church in Hickory. Mrs. Blane was the daughter of the late Howard Leonidas Netherton and Daisy Emma Kirkpatrick Netherton and was the wife of John Goggin Blane who died January 30, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Dottie Netherton and brother, Wes Netherton. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Shirley Netherton; nieces, Brenda Dillingham and husband Marvin, Becky Cheek and husband Bill and June Jarvis and husband Derick; nephews, Mark Netherton and wife Lisa and Brett Netherton; great nieces, Jessica, Jenna, Kelsey, Shelby (Lance), Joanna and Emma; great nephews, Justin (Emily), Scott, Jared (Dorothy), Jackson, Bo and Wyatt (Meghan); great-great nieces, Marjorie, Stella, Laurel and Daisy and great-great nephews, Alistair and Zebulon. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Derick Jarvis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
