Luke Herman Cook

August 17, 1924 — September 9, 2015

Luke Herman Cook, of Leicester, our beloved father and head of our family, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was born August 17, 1924. A native of Buncombe County, he was one of ten children of Calvin C. Cook and Ann Young Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Una Cook Maney; and brothers: Charles C. Cook, Wayne Weaver Cook, and Thomas J. Cook. He was very proud of his work with the Farmers Federation, and Southern Dairies. He started work with American Enka in 1956 and retired from BASF in 1986. He is survived by his children: Kenneth L. Cook and his wife Martha of Alexander, and Patricia M. Cook and her husband Woldemar R. Dogny of Asheville; grandsons: Trajan Dogny of NY, and Aidan Dogny of Asheville; sisters: Merita Bradley of Asheville, Rose Corbin of Pisgah Forest, and Linda Cook of Leicester; brothers: Frank Cook of Leicester, and Kenneth Young Cook of Asheville; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Building Fund, 200 Mt Carmel Rd, Asheville, NC 28806.
