Lucille Sherlin Rogers

Lake Junaluska Mary Lucille Crook Sherlin Rogers, 91, of South Lakeshore Drive, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. A native of Buncombe County, she had resided in Haywood County since 1980 until returning to Buncombe County in 2009. She was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church and had attended Waynesville United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Riceville Volunteer Fire Dept, Ladies Auxiliary where she had served as President and was a former member of the Waynesville Lions Club. She was formerly employed as Executive Housekeeper with Aston Park Hospital and as an Assembler with C.P. Claire. Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Burgin Calvin Crook and Carrie King Crook and wife of Edward George Sherlin who died December 6, 1976 and Claude Willie Rogers who died March 19, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jonie Burgin Sherlin; sisters, Marie Gordon and Helen Maxwell and brothers, Frank Crook and Hubert Crook. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Sherlin Davis and husband C.W. of Belews Creek; sons, Eddie Gerald Sherlin and wife Sandra of Nebo and Randy Lee Sherlin of Asheville; sisters, Martha Huntley of Fletcher and Shirley Guice and husband Bob of Leicester; grandchildren, Glenda Davis Wright and husband Todd of Summerfield, Eric Sherlin of Atlanta, GA and Stephanie Sherlin of Asheville; great granddaughter, Allison Wright of Summerfield and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 2, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Sky View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
