Louise R. Brown

Asheville Louise Rice Brown, 76, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was formerly employed with Buncombe County Child Development. Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Stephen Wilson Rice and Golen Paralee Biddix Rice. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Allen Porter, grandson, Bryan Allen Porter and brother, Stephen Lonnie Rice. Surviving are her children, Robert W. Porter, Jr. (Connie) of Flowery Branch, GA, Mary Libby Hannah, Rhonda P. Burris and Irma Willard (Steve) all of Asheville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Mathes of Asheville; nieces, Darlene, Joyce, Shelley, Stephanie, Beth and Natalie and nephew, Johnny. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August, 5, 2017 at Elk Mountain Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Looney officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
